I have two personalities: nature-chick & sorority girl
Most of the time I'm a blend between the two, but sometimes I'll deviate to one extreme or the other.
I've gone over to the super girly side and it's all because I got my makeup done at the M-A-C counter yesterday.
It was SO much fun. I usually just wear mascara & this was just the second time in my life that I've had my make-up 'professionally' done.
So now I'm doing internet searches like crazy on techniques and products. I've always wanted to wear more makeup but I'm never sure what colors look good. It doesn't help that I don't have good lighting or a makeup mirror. I'll think a color looks good and then I'll look in my car mirror and go, "WHOA!"
And I learned something new about eyeliner. New to me, at least. I was under the impression that you weren't supposed to line your "water line". But everything I've seen recently has said the opposite. Maybe that's why I've had such a rough time with eyeliner??
The other thing was that the makeup was dramatic (to me at least), but it still looked good. I noted that had I done it myself (even if I did everything exactly the way she had done it) I probably would have chickened out, said it looked horrible, and promptly taken it all off.
Anyway, that's what I'm excited about right now. Makeup. Thrilling, I know.
I've always wanted to get my makeup done at a counter. Does it cost money? Do they expect you to buy things when they're done with you?
ReplyDeleteYou are definately a "cool" to "neutral" color gal. Squeeze your hand into a fist for about 10 seconds than open. It will either look pink, white, or yellowish. You should probably be pink to white which indicates "cooler" colors. Basically stay away from shadows that are too deep in color (dark purple's, dark greens, etc) and yellows and you should be good:) It also depends on how much you want your make up to show or if you prefer to have it blend in and work as an accent. Hope that helps. If I'm totally off the mark...disregard :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, I did this Avon(?) party a LONG time ago and they said I was "cool". I thought, "Well, I already KNOW that!" Ha. Ha. Anyway, when looking at all of the millions of colors available (perhaps millions is an overstatement) I have no idea how you tell a cool from a neutral from a warm. And then another problem is matching foundation & powder to my skin. But I think I might skip trying to get any foundation since the make-up lady said I didn't need any. I'll take it!
