Have you decided yet?

I'm not a big Halloween dresser-upper (the last time I dressed up was in 9th grade), but after one of my friends decided last night to have a Halloween party, I have renewed energy to dress up.

I think we've decided that I will go as Cindy Lou Who & my boyfriend will be the Grinch. If we get really into it, we might dress Capone up as Max. It could be really complicated, or it could be really simple. If I can't find any suitable Cindy Lou attire, I could always just wear pjs. I think the most difficult part might be her hair-do.

I found this really great blog post where the woman's husband (who was in dental school) made big fake teeth for her. It looked great! I think I'll just stick with simplicity...especially since it's so close to the 31st anyway.

Does anyone else have big Halloween plans? What have you decided to be?

  1. My friends are going to a party as the Golden Girls and they're trying to convince me to go as "Dorothy." I found a great caftan outfit at Value Village but it was $20. Maybe if it ever goes on 1/2 price sale...

  2. I'll be in a training all day (boo!). That night, I'll be handing out candy and will probably don a witch's hat and orange wig and do something wild with my makeup.

Either that, or turn off the porch light and eat all the candy myself.

    Haven't decided.

  3. I don't know if you've seen Tropic Thunder yet but I'm going as Ben Stiller dressed in panda. I really need to get the outfit together soon though b/c my friend's having a party a week from today and then I think I'm gonna go to Boulder on Halloween and see the naked pumpkin runners (a pretty big group of people run down pearl street completely naked with a pumpkin on their head). Oh Boulder :) Good luck w/your outfit! I need it w/mine too. I think I need to see the movie again and take notes on my costume. Anyway take pics!

  4. I have to give a talk on the 1st at 9 am! So, no costuming that may not come off, ie: zombie makeup, elf ears or hair color.
    ;)
Although, I think a green face would go well with my oyster data!

Hey, are you going to ESA meeting next year? It'd be so cool to run into you at a meeting!

  6. You probably figured this out already but to recreate Cindy Lou's hair you just have to use wire straws which are found in any craft store and braid over them. Then bend and bobby pin as you would like. Have a great time :)

  7. Oddly enough, I had only thought about how I'd do the top part...I just assumed the braids would hold their shape I guess. If all else fails I can just let them hang down (which is how she wears them with the pajama scene). That'd probably be the easiest route anyway.

  8. Hi, I am flattered to be linked on your blog. To answer your questions, I made the dress, it was REALLY straight forward. I purchased the cape from a halloween store, it was a generic Vampire cape and I just added the fluff around the edge, from a boa from Michaels. I hope it works out for you, it was a really fun costume!
